So, I’ve seen Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn which features a voiceover joke in its end credits scene. First, debuting in 2016’s Suicide Squad Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is garnering love from both the fans and the critics alike. In Suicide Squad, we saw Harley Quinn being caught by Batman (Ben Affleck) and sent to the metahuman prison Belle Reve. But at the end of the movie, she was broken out of the prison by Joker (Jared Leto) which is where Birds of Prey picks up from. Margot Robbie does break the fourth wall at times in the movie since the movie entirely has been told from her perspective. She narrates the story to the audience, introducing several characters and giving commentary during the events of the film.

Harley Quinn and Joker having broken up during Birds of Prey go their different ways which leave her without the protection of the clown prince of Gotham, whom she calls her “Puddin”. Ultimately teaming up with Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Renne Montoya (Rosie Perez), Harley Quinn goes on a crazy, trippy adventure to defeat Black Mask (Ewan Mc Gregor) and to protect the young Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). Even though there is no practical presence of Jared Leto’s Joker in the movie, Birds of Prey has been largely set up as a spin-off of Suicide Squad and is actually in the world of The DCEU. There are pretty much a lot of references in the movie about her relationship with Joker. One of which is at the end of the movie.

Although Birds of Prey post-credits scene isn’t specifically a “scene” there is something big which carters to the future of DCEU in a larger picture. Harley Quinn returns to the screen in the end credits with a voiceover asking the audience in the theatre who are sticking around. And then she says that she does actually have something for those who have actually managed to stick around for the time- which is a Batman secret. Harley Quinn merely says “Batman f-“ before the audio cuts and the screen cuts to the Warner Bros. logo before she can actually reveal the secret about Batman.

The audience never gets to know what the secret about Batman was though.

What was it that Harley Quinn was going to reveal about Batman? While nobody is going to know for sure but the key thing everyone knows certainly is that it started with “F-“ Could it have been about the upcoming 2021 Batman film which is going to bring the Twilight star Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. This theory at this point in time can merely remain speculation until there is an official release from someone related to either of the movies.

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn in playing in theatres now. While other upcoming DC movies include Wonder Woman 1984 (5th June), The Batman (25th June 2021), The Suicide Squad 2 (6th August 2021), Black Adam starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (22nd December 2021), Shazam! 2 (1st April 2022), The Flash (1st July 2022) and on 16th December 2022, Aquaman 2.
