Full SPOILERS ahead for Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man Far From Home Mid-Credits

Far From Home’s ending sees Spider-Man taking MJ on a “Spider-swing” across Manhattan. As the mid-credits scene kicks in, Peter gets ready to take off, he’s perched on a lamppost when we hear a TV broadcast break into the current program as J. Jonah Jameson (the anti-Spider-Man editor of the Daily Bugle. A role reprised by J.K Simmons from the Tobey Maguire movies) shows up on a giant TV screen, from TheDailyBugle.net newsroom. He claims to have a disturbing footage of Mysterio’s last moments as he died protecting the Earth (ugh). The footage plays showing an altered version of the final battle that shows Spider-Man as the perpetrator of all the attacks. But even worse, Mysterio’s dying attempt to destroy Spider-Man was to record a video message where he reveals Spidey’s true identity to the world.

Spider-Man Far From Home Post-Credits

Interestingly, that’s not the only surprise in the film. After the credits are done, the screen cuts to Nick Fury and Maria Hill…. Who, as it turns out to be are the shape shifting Skrulls, Talos (the leader of the remaining Skrulls, as seen in Captain Marvel) and his wife, Soren. They had been impersonating Nick Fury and Maria Hill (under Fury’s command) during the events of the movie.

But where is Nick? And Hill?

The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D is actually somewhere in space on a craft that is filled with Skrulls. He appears to be commanding the Skrulls, barking orders at them. The movie ends!

Our bet is that this is the start of S.W.O.R.D; the Sentient World Observation and Response Department from the comics, which essentially deals with extra-terrestrial dangers. Basically, the S.W.O.R.D is an extra-terrestrial S.H.I.E.L.D. type organization in the comics that reacts and responds on threats from outer space. Which, considering everything that happened in the first 3 phases of the MCU, would make a lot of sense… Could Nick Fury be running that group now with the help of the Skrulls? Only time will tell!
