Zack Snyder on Vero had previously revealed that he had planned to have General Swanwick as the Martian Manhunter in his version of the Justice League. And during the watch party with the commentary, the filmmaker confirmed that General Swanwick who was actually Martian Manhunter always knew about Superman’s real identity during the film. “Harry Lennix is pretending to be a human and does a great job, but has this relationship with Lois that started in Man of Steel if you kind of track their relationship,”  Zack Snyder went on to reveal, “Harry understands there’s a relationship between Lois and Clark, who he knows, of course, is Superman.

Decoding The Martha Scene

The pivotal Martha scene became the hook for many critics to bring the film down. But Zack Snyder had put a lot of thought behind the scene which many people failed to grasp. The director cleared a few things about the scene; he explained how Batman had after all these years lost his morality, fighting on the streets and on the roofs of Gotham city. According to Zack Snyder “The whole idea of this movie is to create this arc where [Batman] confronts Superman’s humanity, that he finds himself again.” For Zack Snyder that is what the key connection between both Batman and Superman was. “That’s what the thesis of this thing is, that we’re all humans and that we all connect on a level.

During his live commentary, Snyder shared that Wonder Woman took the lead against Doomsday in Batman v Superman because she has had more experience in fighting monsters. As she herself said in the movie, “I’ve fought monsters from other worlds before”.

As long as the Snyder Cut does not release the fans would never get closure about one of the biggest and the most beautifully choreographed action dystopian scenes in recent history. And it looks like director Zack Snyder himself hasn’t got a closure about the Knightmare scene either. He describes “Maybe it’s a by-product of Flash cracking on the cosmic treadmill or whether it creates some sort of rift where it allows Batman to see into the future.” He continued saying, “It could be a combo of those things.” These things, of course, the director was going to explain in the sequel.

Zack Snyder explained the reason why Aquaman didn’t have his trident in Batman v Superman and Justice League, but then it was there in James Wann’s Aquaman. In order, to breakdown, the plot hole Snyder said “The concept here was that he had his, to me it was that he had probably trained with his mother’s trident a couple of times with Vulko, but he wasn’t keeping it himself,” He explained “So Vulko kept the trident with him or, he would get it from him, but he’s always given it back. But he never took it up as like a real mantle.”

The reason behind killing Jimmy Olsen

Jimmy Olsen’s character even though for a really short time period featured only in The Ultimate Cut of the movie, which is considered as “the definitive cut of Batman v Superman.” But after watching the ultimate cut for the first time everyone wondered how Jimmy Olsen’s character could have taken such a big departure from the comics. Zack Snyder explained during the commentary “I just liked the idea that Jimmy Olsen was a spook for the CIA.” He went on to say “I always felt like Jimmy, you know, never was capable, capable, and to see him be like speak a foreign language.” When Snyder is asked if Jimmy Olsen’s character could make a return in The Snyder Cut, he said “People always ask me if he’s dead, do we see him again, does he come back to life. I don’t think so.

Batman vs Superman Super Cut

It’s unclear now about what went in the editing room of Batman v Superman and how it leads to a chopped cut in the theatres. The ultimate cut, however, is considered to be much more superior and far better than the theatrical cut. Zack Snyder during his live commentary on Vero revealed that there exists a supercut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “I wonder if anyone’s ever done five-hour cut, which would basically just be editing these two parts of the movie together, carefully.

You know what? I think they should make a sequel to this movie someday” the director quipped. “That would be amazing. That would be really something else. I want to know what happens to these guys. I mean, don’t they eventually, I don’t know form some–” and then the live feed cut off before he could finish. So according to Zack Snyder, the Snyder Cut is the real sequel to Batman v Superman.
