Batman Hush
Batman Hush is a 12 part storyline written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Jim Lee.
Who is Hush ?
Hush is the new mysterious Villain who has bandages wrapped around his face. Later in the
series it is discovered that he was the one funding the villains to take down Batman. He is
present at most of the crime scenes, always keeping a watchful eye on the Dark Knight.
Who is Thomas Elliot ?
A childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. Elliot is also a brilliant Neurosurgeon.
Thomas and Bruce would play a game called Stratego-esque. Through this game Thomas (
Tommy ) Elliot taught young Bruce Wayne how to think from the enemies perspective and
how to turn the tables against them.
However Thomas was not treated the same as Bruce. While Bruce’s parents pampered
Bruce with love and affection, Elliot in contrast had a harsh childhood where his father would
physically abuse him and his Mother would not defend him as she wanted to remain in the
family for its wealth.
At a very young age he lost both his parents ( which we learn the truth about later on in this
series )
His secret persona
Taking on the villain name of Hush, he terrorises the city of Gotham through psychological
torment. Hush’s primary motivation is to destroy Bruce Wayne and take everything he has,
fueled by jealousy and a desire for revenge.
